Off the shores of Jarvis Creek lie 40 unspoiled acres of pristine island beauty. The Paddocks on Jarvis Creek, Hilton Head’s newest residential community, offers its residents the Southern charm and hospitality of a bygone era set alongside unsurpassed views of spectacular marsh.
“This is totally different, totally unique,” said Tom Herbkersman, Director of Marketing and Sales for the Paddocks on Jarvis Creek. “We’re the only traditional family neighborhood on Hilton Head Island.”
Everything about the equestrian-themed neighborhood has been designed to encourage neighbors to get to know one another. A lush central park sits at the heart of the community and provides neighbors with the perfect place to play or picnic.
Residents of the Paddocks can unwind at the community pool while enjoying the views of a serene saltwater pond or the gamboling horses of Sandy Creek Stables. A large outdoor fireplace and casual clubhouse are the ideal sites for informal, spontaneous gatherings.
Anyone who has ever dreamed of taking an evening stroll down sidewalks lit with the glimmer of gas lamps while breezes off Calibogue Sound blow through moss-laden oaks, towering pines, and palmettos will find themselves at home in The Paddocks.
Riding enthusiasts will enjoy the meandering equestrian trail that winds from the stables to the outer island. A second island, accessible only by a footbridge, has been set aside as a conservation easement. Residents enjoy exclusive access to this nature preserve where they can experience the true Lowcountry – whether it’s watching the shrimp boats come in with the day’s haul or taking in a sunset over a panoramic tidal marsh.
“It’s refreshingly different; this community is a breath of fresh air for Hilton Head,” said Herbkersman.
The architecture is as distinctive as the community itself. The Paddocks brought together some of the finest architects in the Lowcountry to design architectural renderings of the homes which reflect the Greek Revival and Victorian Periods with a coastal twist. All of the homes in the Paddocks are custom designed; while architectural expression is encouraged, set guidelines do exist to maintain the integrity of the development.
“It’s what I call ‘Beach Traditional,’” explained Herbkersman. “These homes are reminiscent of the beach houses of the twenties, thirties, and forties.” In a natural environment as breathtakingly beautiful as the Paddocks, it’s only to be expected that every attempt is made to bring the outdoors in. Spacious verandas that wrap around the entire house, roof top terraces, cupolas, and towers are a few of the features to be found on the two- and three-story homes in the Paddocks. Soft pastel hues, decorative glass, wrought-iron accents, metal roofs, and wooden shutters add to the singular style of the homes.
Preserving the natural environment was a priority with the developers of The Paddocks. The landscape design was done by award-winning Design Works of Charleston, the same company that designed I’ON in Mount Pleasant and Ford Plantation. Only 73 home sites dot the landscape, each with stunning views of the best the Lowcountry has to offer. “In a community like this, less is more,” stressed Herbkersman.
The Paddocks on Jarvis Creek is a private community, located off the beaten path on Jonesville Road; yet, it’s highly accessible, just minutes away from both the north and south ends of the island via Highway 278 and the Cross Island.
