"Charming” and “quaint” are two apt descriptors for
Westbury Park, a unique neighborhood in Bluffton. Comprised of single-family homes, town homes, and apartments, choices for today’s homebuyer are practically unlimited. Situated just off Hwy 278, this one-of-a-kind development is centrally located to Bluffton, Hilton Head, Savannah and Beaufort, and refuses to be labeled a “cookie-cutter” neighborhood. Instead, it is a step back in time, recalling the regal days of yesteryear.
When planning
Westbury Park, developer James N. Richardson desired a style reminiscent of Charleston, with elegant squares, superior amenities, and lots of privacy for residents. The homes in this traditional neighborhood feature gracious, rocking chair-friendly porches, many with stately columns, and quaint picket fences. Lots of extra touches, including elegantly designed landscaping, ample sidewalks, wide avenues lined with street lamps, and sparkling oak-lined lakes with fountains, give Westbury Park a regal, yet small-town feel.
Westbury Park residents Jason and Valerie Best are “perfectly happy” with their home. They love the family atmosphere of the neighborhood, and are proud of the Charleston-like feel of their home. As parents of an active toddler, Collin, and brand-new baby, Laura Grace, the Bests feel that Westbury Park is the perfect choice for their young family. It is an established neighborhood, but is still young enough to have been built with today’s most popular features for today’s discriminating homeowner.
They adore the front porches of the neighborhood, which make it easy for folks to stop and chat. This, according to the Bests, lends to the closeness and friendless of the neighborhood.

Jason also serves as the president of the Westbury Park Homeowners’ Association. When he and Valerie re-located to
Bluffton from Savannah four years ago, they were hoping to find a classic-style home. The first time they drove through the gates to explore Westbury Park, Jason and Valerie recall feeling they were “in a dream” when they saw families with children playing in the park, dogs chasing Frisbees, and everyone looking happy. Now, after four years, they still feel like they are living their dream.
And, another dream come true for Jason is that the neighborhood provides the lawn maintenance. He remembers spending several hours each Saturday morning, at their old home in Savannah, caring for their lawn. He said that was “not his ideal way to spend a weekend.” Now, they don’t have to worry about it, and they can devote their free time to other pursuits.
Kevin and Marcy Farruggio agree.
Westbury Park homeowners since October 2000, the Farruggios say they were first drawn to the warm and friendly feeling of the community. They loved visiting Charleston, and Westbury Park reminded them of the city. Now parents to Kayla, 2 1⁄2, and Kyle, 4 months, they say the “tight-knit community” is the perfect family atmosphere in which to raise their children. And Kevin takes his position as vice president of the homeowners’ association seriously. He states that the neighborhood was well-planned, not just for the present, but for the future, and its extra features lend to the lasting charm of the neighborhood.

These popular features not only make Westbury Park homeowners happy, but they are decidedly helpful when it comes to re-sales. Approximately 20 undeveloped lots remain (as of press time) and re-sales are reportedly in high demand. In the Classic Series of homes, an extensive landscaping package helps make for exciting curb appeal at
Westbury Park. Lush green lawns with irrigation systems really catch the eye.
Also making an inviting statement are the entryways and foyers of the neighborhood’s homes. There is an abundance of crown molding and wainscoting to welcome visitors, along with either tile or hardwood floors in the entry.
Westbury Park’s kitchen designs reflect the growing trend that kitchens are becoming the center of the home. Custom durable countertops and state-of-the-art appliances and sinks make for easy food preparation and clean-up, perfect for entertaining.

The master suites are designed to make the owners feel like they are taking a bit of a vacation in their own private space. Abundant closet space allows for easy organization. A large garden tub and separate shower are not only convenient, but also give owners the feel of a spa retreat in their own home.
Who says you can’t have the best of both worlds? At
Westbury Park, you can. With a “neo-Charleston” theme, the romance and charm of “days gone by” are represented superbly, while today’s highly sought-after conveniences are included in each of the homes. This marriage of modern and classic blends well to form a special Bluffton neighborhood.
